The NAS comes standard with 16 GB of ECC DDR4 memory that can be expanded to 128 GB by inserting four 32 GB modules. Up to 12 3.5-inch SATA hard disk drives or solid-state drives and 6 2.5-inch SATA solid-state drives can be accommodated in the 18 drive bays. The drive bays are hot-swappable and lockable, allowing for simple installation and replacement while keeping the system running. The QNAP TS-h1887XU-RP-E2334-16G 18 Bay NAS Storage offers four USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, two 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports, and three PCIe expansion card slots. QM2 cards enable the addition of M.2 SSDs or 10GbE/5GbE/2.5GbE network ports to the NAS, while the optional HDMI output allows the NAS to be used as a standalone workstation or media player by attaching it to a monitor or TV.
